These suggestions select a small number of directory listings by region and water type. They are starting points for your research. We have not measured driving distances, checked the full routes, or established how many stops fit into a day. Select the places you want to visit, confirm access, and adjust the order in a mapping service.

Seasonality and Timing
Check official opening dates, swimming rules, weather forecasts, and park advisories for every stop before choosing your travel dates. Inclusion in a shortlist does not establish current access or permission to swim.
Driving & Logistics
Confirm public parking and the correct entrance with each land manager, then check directions and travel times in your mapping service. Allow time for walking and reservations, and download any maps you need before leaving mobile coverage. Check current fees and payment options before arrival.
Packing Essentials
- Water shoes with grip, quick-dry layers, and a warm layer
- Sun protection (hat, UPF, sunscreen) and plenty of drinking water
- Small first-aid kit, dry bag, microfiber towel
- Trash bag - pack out everything
Responsible Recreation
