We previously described this location as a swimming spot. That recommendation was incorrect. We have removed it from our swimming recommendations, directory results, and swimming maps. This page remains available to correct that information for anyone following an older link.
Do not treat older directions, photographs, or reports of people swimming as permission to enter the water. Check the managing authority's current notices and obey all posted access restrictions, including any park or trail closures.
Visit for waterfall views, not a swim
This listing is retained to prevent an old swimming-hole description from sending visitors into a restricted area. Use the DEC visitor guide for the map, current access information and complete rules.
A parking reference is not a water-entry point
The map identifies where to begin a lawful sightseeing visit. It should never be interpreted as a recommended route into the plunge pool. Read the signs before continuing on foot.
Choose a viewpoint without chasing the photograph
Stay behind barriers and on authorized paths. Do not recreate a camera angle simply because it appears online. The gallery deliberately avoids visitor activity at the pool and a close brink frame that could normalize unsafe access.
Keep river destinations distinct
Rules for this waterfall do not establish permission at another river location. If swimming is the goal, choose a separately documented permitted destination rather than searching for a way around the waterfall restriction.
