Little Niagara: a park-managed creek visit
Little Niagara is a low waterfall on Travertine Creek near Sulphur, not an unofficial swimming or jumping site. Plan with the park's rules, access notices and water-quality information.
Respect the swimming boundary
NPS swimming guidance permits water recreation from Little Niagara downstream. The 2026 compendium prohibits swimming and wading east of the NE Perimeter Road bridge here. A path beside the creek does not extend permission upstream.
Read dated tests as dated tests
The monitoring table reviewed October 9, 2026 ends August 27. It does not establish today's bacterial conditions. Check current on-site warnings and contact the park when the published results are old; skip swimming when NPS advises against it.
Free entrance, separate camping arrangements
Chickasaw has no entrance fee. Camping and boat-launch fees are separate. Use the current campground schedule rather than assuming all camping areas remain open.
Parking and pets need their own plan
Use designated spaces, not the roadside. NPS warns that full creek-area parking can mean a substantially longer walk. The retained map pin is not a verified entrance. Pets cannot enter the water at Little Niagara; service dogs are treated separately from pets. Confirm where your pet may accompany you.
Enjoy the waterfall without jumping
The park brochure advises against diving from waterfalls and banks. Our earlier suggestion to assess a jumping spot yourself was inadequate and has been removed. Selected gallery images show the falls and sign without implying today's flow or safe water depth.
Getting There
Use the NPS park map to locate Little Niagara on Travertine Creek near Sulphur. Check current road and parking notices before setting out, follow park signs and use designated parking spaces only. The older drive-mileage estimate from Oklahoma City and promised short approach were not reverified. The retained coordinates are a historical reference, not a surveyed water entry. Follow site signage for the swimming boundary at the NE Perimeter Road bridge.
